Dirs. Chris Hall, Mike Kerry. UK 2010 1hr 45mins
A candid portrait following the initial meteoric rise of Verden Allen, Dale Griffin, Mick Ralphs, Overend Watts and Ian Hunter – the original line-up when the band Mott The Hoople first signed to Island Records.
The film charts the five year life-span, covering the various line-up changes (including the incandescent ex-Spooky Tooth star Ariel Bender) through to the sharp, almost brutal cut-off point caused by Ian Hunter’s breakdown.
All the interviewees are open and fascinating and the archive footage is often rare.
Includes hits such as ‘All the Young Dudes’, ‘Roll Away the Stone’ and ‘All the Way to Memphis’.
